Upon arrival of your cruise ship, our guide/coordinator will be identified with a SHORE2SHORE© sign.

We will begin this wonderful day with a walk along the Arno River, passing in front of the National Library, a large Liberty-style palace, enjoying the view of the hills, the palaces of Oltrarno and the Bardini Garden.

We will arrive at the perfect spot to see the Uffizi Gallery, the oldest museum in the world, which houses important works by artists such as Giotto, Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Caravaggio.

There, we will find ourselves in front of the Ponte Vecchio, the oldest bridge in the city and the only one intact since the 14th century, composed of houses, goldsmiths' shops and artisan jewellers, heirs to a centuries-old tradition.

We will continue by visiting the characteristic Mercato della Paglia ‘Straw Market’, where we can see the bronze sculpture of the famous ‘piglet’, the mascot of many travellers over the centuries.

From the Mercato, we will arrive directly at Piazza della Repubblica and Piazza del Duomo, where we can admire the exterior of magnificent religious buildings: the medieval Baptistery, the Bell Tower designed by Giotto, the Cathedral (one of the largest in the world) and Filippo Brunelleschi's extraordinary Dome, a masterpiece of architecture and engineering that served as a model for Michelangelo when he built the dome of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome.

From here, we will cross Via dei Calzaiuoli, arriving at Orsanmichele, a unique building; church, granary and civil monument. An example of Florence as the capital of trade and the gold florin, the ‘dollar’ of the Middle Ages.

We will continue to the famous Piazza della Signoria, a veritable ‘open-air museum’ in the city, dominated by the Palazzo Vecchio and rich in statues that remind us of the history of Florence and Europe, depicting the medieval struggles between the Guelphs and Ghibellines and the era of Lorenzo the Magnificent, the Grand Duchy of the Medici family and the Italian Renaissance, of which Florence was the capital between 1865 and 1870.

We will cross Piazza San Firenze, where we can admire the Palazzo del Bargello, formerly the seat of the medieval police and prison; today it is the seat of the National Museum of Sculpture.

We will pass through the ancient Borgo dei Greci and arrive at Piazza Santa Croce, which, in addition to being a beautiful source of art treasures (Giotto, Donatello, Brunelleschi), is also a veritable ‘Pantheon’ of Italian glories from different eras; here are several famous tombs, such as those of Michelangelo, Machiavelli, Galileo, Rossini and other geniuses of literature and science.

After a well-deserved break (free time), we will return to our coach, taking in a panoramic view of this magnificent city!

Our guide will say goodbye and we will end the tour, returning to the port (without a guide) for boarding.
